Barra de Cunhaú
The place is located in 88 km from Natal. You may get there by BR 101 South then, after reaching Canguaretama, take RN 269.
Cunhaú is a mixture of sea, river and green. Besides relishing the beach stretches, visitors can get on a boat and take an ecological trip down the river observing the manguezal, the nature of the area. Also with the boat, guests can tour to several salines (sites where sea salt is made).
The beach in Cunhaú offers a much wider sand stretch (the water front seems to be more remote); in several spots, you may see trees and natural grass.
The village is yet rather small, most people still make their living of capturing shrimps and crabs. The infrastructure is not developed, but the place boasts some pousadas and restaurants. Cunhaú is rather proximate to Pipa, you may think over staying there and during the day visit the beach.
Baia Formosa
The name stands for Beautiful Bay, and actually you will understand that it fully correspond the place. Baía Formosa offers the same options which made Pipa one of the most popular beaches a few decades ago: warm waters, falesias, remnants of the original forest. And the place boasts an advantage today: as Pipa became business oriented, Baía Formosa is still a calm village with a serene atmosphere.
