It is one of the most famous beach resorts, which preferred by people for its casual surroundings and ancient atmosphere.
Sozopol is located in 34 km south from Bourgas. Here are 2 beaches: Central and Harmani beaches. The season peak here is from July to August. Old town offers only private rooms. In the new town few nice hotels and private rooms can be found.
You may enter the New town by car with no restrictions. You should bear in mind that during July and August (the busiest months) it rather difficult to move about the city as well to find parking place in Sozopol. It is advisable to leave the car on one of the guarded parking lots in the new town. The cost for 24 h is usually about 2 $ per car.
Sozopol is among the oldest Bulgarian shore towns. It was founded in 610 BC by Miletian Greeks. Today this delightful place is a famous beach resort for its relaxed ambience, 2 sandy beaches, and unique 19th-century stone and wood houses, 45 of which are national cultural monuments. While Sozopol is exceptionally busy during July and August, in the off-season it turns into a sleepy fishing village again and many artists and writers enjoy staying here.
Sozopol boasts 2 beaches, but the best beach area is at Dyuni, a fashionable Austrian-designed resort village, 6 km south of Sozopol.
