| Caladesi Island State Park, Dunedin, FL | Caladesi Island State Park was rated as one of the top beaches in America. Caladesi’s white sand shores host more than 132,000 visitors every year. It is reachable only by boat or ferry from Honeymoon Island State Park. Beach enthusiasts can relish swimming, sunbathing and beach strolling, while saltwater anglers can fish from their boats or throw a line out into the surf. Nature lovers can observe wildlife while hiking the three-mile nature trail through the island’s center or paddling a three mile kayak trail through the mangroves and bay. There are picnic tables and shelters, located near the beach, and the park provides a marina with electric and water hookups for boaters.
The park system in Florida is one of the largest in the country with 159 parks spanning more than 730,000 acres and more than 100 miles of white powder beach.
Operation Hours: 8:00 a.m. to sundown, 365 days per year Directions: From Clearwater/St. Pete, travel north on US 19 Alt to FL-586. Turn left onto FL-586 and travel to the road's end.
