Guayas is among Ecuador's provinces with well-developed tourist infrastructure and offers lots of lodging and dining facilities. The diversity of beach destinations, some of the best in the country, welcomes vacationers with different demands and incomes.

guayas-beachesGuayas is perhaps the most economically active province of the country, in southwestern Ecuador. The country’s main port, Guayaquil, is located here. You can also find great seaside resorts with abundance of hotels to select from and plenty of small beaches where you can train your favorite water sports. The province boasts an international airport and a great infrastructure for hosting various national and international events. Some international hotels have their branches in Guayaquil. An average temperature here is about 25 degrees Celsius all year round.

Guayaquil’s main attractions now include the historical Las Peñas District nestled on the slopes of Santa Ana Hill, the Metropolitan Cathedral, Seminary Park (1895) with iguanas resting under trees’ shadows, the General Cemetery with its Italian marble sculptures, the city’s gigantic Clock Tower

Playas is located on Ecuador's Pacific shoreline 100 km to the southwest of Guayaquil. The place is surrounded by shrimp farms and different kinds of palm trees, Playas caters a range of tasty seafood dishes.

Another popular destination is Salinas that is located further to the north, 144 km from Guayaquil, on the tip of the Santa Elena Peninsula. It is a modern coastal city with lots of first-class hotels. Salinas is a perfect place for those who want to try out the water sports such as jet skiing, wind surfing, snorkeling, and deep sea fishing.

Punta Blaca is another beach town with superb conditions for water sports; Carnero is world-famous for its amateur fishing; and Montañita is an all-year-round surfing destination with well-developed infrastructure.

And at last, Manglaralto, which is located just to the south from Montañita, and is regarded as another great place to rest, train all kinds of water sports, and go fishing.

One more attraction is delicious local dishes, such as grilled steak or fish with rice and beans; patacones, that is fried plantains; caldo de manguera, namely pork tripe soup; fried rice with seafood; grilled or fried maduro, that is ripe green ribwort.
