Tours and Excursions

In case you get tired of lying in the sun, swimming in the calm waters of the Red Sea and just do nothing, you may set off for a tour. Fortunately, there are plenty of people/agents offering you to experience various adventure, snorkeling tours and excursions. You may head into the desert, try out the quadrocicles there, watch the Bedouins performance (but actually the real Bedouins live on the Sinai Peninsula, the ones you’ll see are mostly animators from Hurghada), ride a camel, drive the desert sand in a Landrover, etc.

Or if you came to Hurghada to dive, you should be sure that the place where you will train scuba, rent the equipment or just have a deal to take you to the place of your interest, is reliable and has all the necessary certificates and experienced instructors. It’s really easy to check. If they offer you (a novice) to dive the same day you came, leave the place.

Another tour option is to go for snorkeling. There are many coral reefs inhabited with dazzling marine life in the area. Typical snorkeling tour includes boat trip to the corals where you are supposed to snorkel, then sail to an island (Giftun, for instance) and spend there time resting on the powder soft sand, suntanning or swimming in the clear waters, or sitting in the shaded bar tasting fresh juices or cocktails made by the local bartender. Then you will be taken again to the corals and after that to Hurghada.

There are also plenty of excursions offered. You may head to Cairo (and see the Pyramids at last), Luxor (the capital of the ancient Egypt), El Gouna (the Egyptian Venice) and many more.

Excursion to Luxor
karnak-templeThe best prices on such excursions are at street tour agencies. The cost will be lower (about 10-15$), but the obvious drawback is that your tour bus won’t be escorted, and because of some Egyptian laws you would have to travel to Luxor in a public bus. But anyway it is a part of adventure, if you are ready for that.

As a rule, you’ll come to Luxor in the morning and go straight to the Karnak Temple that is mystifying in the rays of the morning light. The majestic Pharaohs’ statues, thousand-year sacred wall frescos and engravings, enormous pillar hall and the atmosphere of the oldest town on earth will hypnotize you. The excursion will continue on the other, the west side of the Nile, in the burial place of all the ancient Egyptian people from pharaohs to ordinary people.

One of the main attractions of Luxor is the Nile, the sacred river. Like thousands of years ago, it is still the key of life for all the people, wildlife and agriculture here in Egypt.
