Mamanuca island group, visible from the west coast of the main island, is Fiji's vacation playground. There is a dozen or so small volcanic islands and many more tiny coral atolls. Enjoy the plenty of excellent beaches throughout the islands, especially those alongside the island resorts which have sunset bars, restaurants and lots of water activities. The beaches are cleaned every morning to keep them free of dead coral pieces and seaweed that get washed up. The sea enclosing the islands is pure: its colors are beautiful and it's wonderfully warm, superb for snorkeling and diving, and full of sea life.
Volcanic Islands Malolo Lailai boasts of one of the greatest beaches in the area - a long stretch of fine white sand and palm trees between the two resorts on the island. The bay sight and yacht club are stunning. You may wade across to neighboring Malolo Island, the biggest island in the Mamanuca Group. The island boasts some of the good cove beaches, a pleasant resort beach and several local villages where shells are sold.
There is a nice sandy beach alongside its resort, hedged in by a rocky coastline of Castaway Island, though the island's coast is otherwise quite rugged.
Mana Island takes its pride in two good beaches. Visitors of the beach near the resort may enjoy a hive of activity with water-skiing, parasailing, bars and even a submersible for viewing the coral without getting wet. The north side of the island’s beach is much quieter and has excellent views of neighboring islands. The island can be strolled around in a couple of hours making it an excellent destination for beachcombing.
Matamanoa Island offers a nice sandy beach about all the way around the tiny volcanic island, blocked on the western tip by a large protruding rock which is home to several bird species.
Yanuya Island though uninhabited has a stunning deserted beach with incredible rocks as a backdrop. Several resorts, in addition to seaplane and helicopter tours, can take you there for a picnic.
Coral Islands There are many small coral islands that can be walked around in under five minutes: South Sea Island, Daydream and Tivua (day tours), and Treasure, Beachcomber, Navini, Namotu and Tavarua (resorts). The beaches are beautiful to marvel at, excellent for swimming and snorkeling off, but too restrictive for the beachcomber. The resorts on the islands provide enough for tourists to do with kayaking, sailing and other water sports. There is a tiny sandbank off Treasure Island, which is exposed at low tide and makes an interesting spot for visiting.
