Sun Bay

Sun Bay is the place, where you may enjoy the serene and tranquil beach vacation. Here you may experience some of the most exciting swimming in the phosphorescent water.
Sun Bay
sun-bayThe island city of Vieques is physically part of the Virgin Islands and politically part of Puerto Rico. While access to some areas is forbidden under the jurisdiction of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the rest of the islet is a real treasure, worth visiting again and again.

Sun Bay is located halfway between Isabel II, the island's largest town, and the quiet fishing village of Esperanza. Even the most experienced beach enthusiasts will be impressed with its long curved stretch of white sand, its serene, emerald waters, and the plentiful shadow from sea grapes and palm trees.

There are cozy restrooms, picnic areas and other necessary facilities. You may camp here, but you should have a permit. Remember to bring refreshments and lots of water with you.

If you want to have some additional special excitement, you should get back to the Sun Bay on a moonless night and drive the road to the proximate Bioluminescent Bay. The tiny microorganisms make the waters shine with a bizarre green light, when they are disturbed. Try to swim in the phosphorescent water, and experience the wild vacation!
