| Patong Beach |  It is perhaps the best beach in Phuket, Patong boasts 3,000 metres of white sand that smoothly curves around a bay edged with casuarina trees. Lots of room to relax in your chair (umbrella and side table available), where you can stroll along the coast, do some reading, or play football with locals or your vacation mates and friends at sunsets.
If you feel ready for the adventure, you may rent a little catamaran, go parasailing for a different aerial scenery, or take a boat and go fishing or snorkel around the shore. If that is not what you want from your vacation, get ready for a pedicure or a massage under the shadow of a tree. Or just relax and drink some fresh coconut.
Patong Beach is located on Phuket's west coastline. It is the main beach resort on the island and is the centre of Phuket's nightlife and provides cheap shopping. The place became popular with western travelers, particularly Europeans, in the late 1980s. Patong has lots of large hotels and chain hotels.
Patong Beach is perhaps more famous for its night entertainment facilities than the 2-kilometer beach itself. The main 2 nightlife areas are Bangla Road and Paradise Complex, the 1st one being mostly for straight and the 2nd being mainly for gay. However, Phuket Island's tolerant nature means much mixing of the two scenes.
